Supporting Federal Workers

The current presidential administration is attacking federal workers and contractors in an unprecedented fashion. Arlington has one of the highest proportions of federal workers in the country, and our economy and our people's lives have already been severely impacted by these illegal firings. Virginia’s General Assembly must act swiftly to support the over 400,000 federal employees in our Commonwealth and prevent an economic catastrophe.

  • The Virginia Employment Commission has been overwhelmed by the number of unemployment claims caused by the chaotic and abrupt firings of our federal workforce. In response, our General Assembly must enact emergency unemployment relief to support our federal workers during this period and expedite claims processing so we can support Virginia families sooner.

  • Virginia must streamline and accelerate the business creation process, and partner with local Chambers of Commerce to focus on the placement of federal workers with businesses who are in need of their expertise in sectors such as technology, healthcare, and energy.

As delegate, I will also work to secure investments in clean energy, medical research, rural broadband, and transportation infrastructure, creating new opportunities that will put the valuable skills of our federal employees to work.
